It was an early morning start to hike on Raft Island to visit an ancient Gwion Gwion art site and a Wandjina art site under reconstruction. Raft Point is famous for Sam and his son Donny Woolagoodja's recontruction of Wandjina art. I haven't posted my photos of the art yet, but will soon. Raft Point and Steep Island are some of the most iconic views of the Kimberley region - if you receive a post card, chances are it will feature Raft Point. We landed on the beach at Raft Point, early after watching the sunrise on the Coral Expedition. The sky still held its orange colour when we landed. Steep Island is visible from Raft Point and the Coral Expedition is to the right. Raft Point and Steep Island are great places for photography and it would be an interesting visit to photograph with a bit more time. I was able to get a few handhelds on the beach like this one.
