The first day of our expedition along Australia's Kimberley coast is coming to an end. Eight hours out of Darwin, travelling into Western Australia through the Joseph Boneparte Gulf, the sun is setting and a new moon is rising. It's a bit unusual to see the moon in a "U" shape for those of us who live in the northern hemisphere. The sunsets in the Kimberley are often more bright orange and red than I typically see. I'm not sure what causes this effect, but it's very impressive.
