Guarding the Brisbane River

If the bull sharks in the Brisbane River don't keep attackers away, the lion heads will! The Brisbane River has a great set of walking trails - I walked from the Brisbane Wheel at the Expo '88 site across the river on a snazzy footbridge, through the mangroves along side the City Botanic Gardens, the shops of Eagle Street Pier, past the Story Bridge and into New Farm. The river walking trails give you a view of the Brisbane River the entire way, which is something that the trails in Edmonton along the North Saskatchewan sometimes lack. Brisbane is a good walking city. The river walks were much less busy on the weekday afternoon when I took this photo compared to the evening I was out taking night photos of the Story Bridge. It's a popular trail for joggers and a popular path for bicycle commuters. I understand thet trail network had more boardwalks alongside the river past the Story Bridge prior to the 2011 floods.
