Red Chairs at Elk Island National Park
I had seen photos of Red Chairs in Jasper National Park this summer. I didn't get the chance to visit any of Jasper's Red Chairs this summer. It turns out Elk Island National Park has its own pair of Red Chairs overlooking Astotin Lake. I hogged the chairs for almost an hour yesterday afternoon. A few people walked by - the park was busier than I had expected but still very empty. It seems like a nice time of year to visit Elk Island - mosquito free and not as cold as the Rocky Mountain Parks.
I understand from the Jasper National Park web page that the Red Chair program started in Gros Morne in 2012. After climbing to the top of Gros Morne, I think some chairs for rest are well deserved!
