Shirley Lake Trail in Elk Island Park has the distinction of being a trail where you really don't get to see its namesake lake. Except in the fall or winter when the leaves are off the trees and you peer through. Like this!
Really - can you imagine Berg Lake Trail without Berg Lake? Or Crypt Lake without Crypt Lake and its famous brewery at the end?
There are a few other lakes that are more accessible on the trail, including Oster Lake which has a nice looking backcountry campsite. I'm not sure how you manage the risk of being trampled by a bison in your tent there - I was expecting a fenced area but didn't see any.
