Out for a Walk with the Bison
What do you do when you're out for a nice quiet walk on a very warm fall day and a herd of bison is in your path? The Tawayik Lake trail passes through aspen forests for six kilometres and then opens up to a meadow. At the opening, a small herd of plains bison were grazing. Not quite as scary as a mother Grizzly and her cubs, but these fellows with their big horns can do some damage if they charge! I was quite a ways back from them, paused and took a few photos. I couldn't quite see until I zoomed in, but they were watching me closely. I took a few steps forward and the herd moved off the trail. One of them, the fellow in the middle, kept a close eye on me as a walked on the trail where they had been grazing.
