Taken near Refugio Cuernos one evening near sunset. There is a rocky beach a short walk from the Refugio. It was somewhat a long day, hiking from Paine Grande to Cuernos with a detour up the French Valley. Lake Nordenskold was full of small waves - not nearly as rough as it would be the next night so I'm really telling a tall tale with the long exposure filter. One of the parts I found odd about Torres del Paine is that no one filters water before drinking it. After thinking about it, I suppose none of the accessible streams and rivers cross campsites or places where humans may be. There are quite a number of these streams throughout the trail. Most water sources seem to come down from the Paine mountain in the centre of the circuit. In the Canadian Rockies, many of the places I would get water are alpine lakes, where the water is not moving. Sometimes streams, but generally those are more accessible near campsites and I would prefer to filter the water. Lago Nordenskold (in this area near the refugio) was an exception where the Chileans wanted to point out that we should not drink from the lake - there is use of motor boats in the lake.
