Nigel Pass is a relatively easy half-day hike in northern Banff National Park. The first six kilometers don't have too much of an incline - a little up, some down. The trail intermixes witha horse trail and goes past stables. The trail was quiet when I started out at 9 last Saturday morning - just a few hikers emerging from the backcountry beyond. It generally follows Nigel Creek - a short diversion off the main trail takes you to this little waterfall. It's the reason I carry my tripod with me on hikes! After the first six kilometers, the trail climbs through Nigel Pass and you reach the Brazeau River crossing into Jasper National Park. More on that later …
