This is the tarn below Angel Glacier in Jasper National Park. One evening last summer, after days of rain, a piece of the Shadow Glacier fell into the tarn and caused a great deal of damage to the site. The road and parking lot are now re-built and the site is re-opened with access restrictions. There are still threats of more glacial ice falling. Parks Canada advises against entering the area below the glacier and has modified the "Path of the Glacier" trail so that it terminates well before the glacier and requires visitors to travel back on the same path used to reach the viewpoint instead of a lower trail.
