Windy Ridge

If you stop at the meadows below Windy Ridge, you've stopped too soon. Maybe have some lunch, take a rest. Enjoy the view of Assiniboine far away behind the haze. And then look up high! Yes - that saddle that looks like pass and looks higher than you want to climb after you've already climbed your self out is where you NEED to go!

Windy Ridge in Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park is a full day hike from the main Magog campsite. Don't turn back part way. From the ridge, you see a view into an isolated area in Banff below a steep, steep drop off.

The top of the ridge didn't seem windy. Maybe it was the excitement of being there that made me ignore the wind. The lower meadows definately were "Windy" - and really offered a very average view. The hike went through seas of wildflowers, and provided a turn off to Og Pass - an area of Banff closed for much of the summer to provide space for Grizzlies.
