Maligne Canyon

With another piece of the glacier falling into the tarn at Edith Cavell causing a mudslide, the Cavell Meadows hike was ruled out. Plan B on today's hike list was the Maligne Canyon. Half-way between the fourth and fifth bridges is this waterfall. An interesting one - almost seems Medusa-like!

Maligne Canyon is a very accessible trail in Jasper - it attracts visitors with a wide range of footware - flipflops, sandles, running shoes, slippers and the ocassional set of heels. It's a nice little hike and the business tapers of the further you go on the trail.

Hoping Edith Cavell opens soon. It sounds like the damage was not as severe in this fall as the one two years ago. But it is looking like we may not have one of the great glaciers in the Canadian Rockies with us for much longer.
