The Alluvial Flats - Berg Lake Trail
Just past Kinney Lake, the Berg Lake Trail starts to climb - temporarily. You watch the silt and flow of dozens of tiny rivers form the northern end of Kinney Lake from up high. Then you descend down to the alluvial flats. It would be much more convinient if you could just walk straight off the trail onto the flats to Whitehorn Hill, the next stage of the trail … but, no, not generally passable. I understand some times of year the flats may be passable and the signs of a trail could be seen as I walked up Whitehorn Hill. This is from where the flats start out and where the Robson River is still largely intact. This water fell over giant falls in the Valley of A Thousand Falls just a few kilometers ago. It was a nice chance to stop, take off the tripod, put on the ND filter and try a few long exposure shots. (0.8s).
