Sydney Harbour from MIlson's Point
One of my favorite images from our visit to Australia. This was from the final night about an hour after sundown. There was just a little bit of cloud in the air to make this unusual. I took one of the ferries from Circular Quay across to Milson's Point. I was wanting to get a photo with both the Bridge and the Opera House - my first choice was from the Botanic Gardens, but it closes at 6:30 (well, it seems you can't get in after 6:30 - I think if you are already in, you can stay until you're given the boot) and it wouldn't be dark enough to get a night shot. So Plan B was the other side of the harbour. There were a few people at this vantage point taking pictures. The amusement park on the right is Luna Park - it was not open when I was there. One of the challenges I found photgraphing Sydney Harbour at night was the number of boats moving in the harbour … I had to wait until the harbour was clear and clear for the duration of the exposure! I have a lot of photos with moving lights on the water! The flag at the top of Sydney Harbour Bridge in this photo is the White Australia Navy Flag. It was Fleet Review week celebrating 100 years of the Australia Navy. All of the photos I see of the bridge have the Blue Australian Flag on the bridge. The building on the right with the yellow signage is the Shangra-La Hotel where Prince Harry stayed a few days earlier when he visited Sydney as part of the Fleet Review week.
